Moist lemon cake with poppy seeds / Ready in just 5 minutes.
For the cake:
3 eggs
200ml sugar
200ml oil
200ml milk
Approx. 300g flour
1 packet baking powder
1 packet vanilla
A pinch of salt
Juice of one lemon
Zest of one lemon
4 tbsp poppy seeds
For the sauce:
1 grated lemon zest
Juice of 1 lemon
100g sugar
200ml water
For the garnish:
Icing sugar
Almond slivers
Preparation:
Mix the eggs and sugar with a mixer until creamy. Then add the oil and milk and mix. Add the lemon juice and zest and continue mixing.
Add the dry ingredients and poppy seeds and mix well.
Pour into a greased cake tin and place the butter pieces in the middle.
Bake in a preheated oven at 170 degrees Celsius for approx. 40-50 minutes until the surface is golden brown. Use a toothpick to check whether the cake is cooked through.
Mix the ingredients for the lemon sauce in a small saucepan and spread over the warm cake. Allow to cool slightly and enjoy warm 😍
