India has taken a leaf out of the book on the War on Terror. They think that limited intervention can act as a long term deterrence to terrorists that want to cross the border. For this purpose they choose to bomb the centres of the LeT and the JeM.
In fact, this form of limited intervention has been tried by the United States and NATO from 2004-2018 in the context of Pakistan. They conducted 450 drone strikes killing more than 4000 people (and 3-400 civilians). They have studied the results of this limited intervention and concluded that such strikes have no strategic gains and can be very counterproductive. India also should learn from these studies and not undertake actions that are counter-productive.
