How REAL Ukranian Girls Compare to Dating Profiles

With a multitude of Ukraine dating apps available, foreigners around the world often build perceptions about Slavic women based on the numerous profiles they swipe while browsing social platforms. While dating profiles can sometimes be an exaggeration or outright scam, the most serious foreigners solo travel to Eastern Europe to date Ukrainian women face to face.

When Mike, a 59-year-old from South Carolina, decided to leave behind his "keyboard Romeo" days, he had no idea his journey would be this thrilling. Like many men, he had spent hours watching YouTube videos, daydreaming about meeting countless Ukrainian women. But instead of just sitting on the sidelines, he made the leap.

"I was that guy on the couch," Mike says with a laugh. "I’d see the videos and think, ‘Wow, I wish that was me.’” And after one conversation with Ukrainian matchmakers, Mike booked a flight to meet new people, visit new places, and open himself up to a unique adventure.

Traveling to wartime Ukraine isn’t exactly a breeze. Due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, direct flights were off the table. Ukrainian matchmakers don't recommend traveling to Ukraine for dating purposes because of the present risks. Mike’s journey took him from Charlotte to Munich, then a layover and a flight to Warsaw, Poland.

Mike came knowing there was risk involved. Travel warnings and alerts were not lost on him, and he signed a waiver acknowledging these potential hazards. And yet, on the ground, he found a mix of caution and calm. “The reality is, most of Kyiv is peaceful, but you do have to stay alert," Mike explains. Mike regularly checks in with matchmakers, ensuring he stays safe in an unpredictable environment.

Despite the turbulence, Mike found Ukrainian girls to be more than welcoming. “It was mind-blowing,” he says. “You see a photo on the website or videos on YouTube, but meeting them is something else. These Ukraine women are absolutely stunning—friendly, outgoing, and real.”
Mike had done his homework, studying Ukrainian culture, learning a few phrases, and making an effort to understand their traditions. “When I say a greeting in Ukrainian, they light up. It shows respect, and it goes a long way,” he explains. Small gestures—like proper grooming, good breath, and a genuine smile—made a noticeable difference.

For a legion of men considering dating beyond borders in Ukraine, preparation is key. Most Ukrainian women put in effort to meet you—hair, makeup, everything, so it's fair to return the favor. It’s about showing respect and interest. Be comfortable, respectful, and, most importantly, be yourself.
