Plot: Pratap (Ashok Kumar) is a wealthy man and lives in a mansion with his mother, Maharani (Durga Khote) and wife Parvati (Bina Rai). Pratap and Parvati do not have any child and hence issues are created between the two. Issues are also created between Maharani and Pratap. Parvati, who is angry and irritated with daily issues, leaves the mansion and visits Dr. Bharati (Rehman) and his wife for help. After a few days, even Pratap leaves his own mansion. When he learns that Parvati has given birth to a baby boy, he pays a visit to Parvati and also secretly kidnaps his own child. Not able to find a woman who can feed his son, he re-unites with Parvati and goes back to his mansion. Parvati also adopts an orphan and name him Shomu. Pratap and Parvati name their child Shankar. Shomu and Shankar become good friends but this hurts Pratap and is always against Shankar and Shomu being together. Years pass by and both, Shankar and Shomu are grown ups. Shankar (Dilip Raj) is in love with Seema (Mumtaz), while Shomu (Kashinath) is in love with Shaguna (Tanuja). Shaguna's father, Balram (David Abraham) is against their relationship and hence informs Pratap about the same.
