The East Coast Main Line (EX LNER) Eastern and North Eastern region, locked in rivalry with the West Coast (LMS), was home to the fastest locomotives, the most elegant trains, and the sleekest designs of the steam age. Set between the 1950s and 1960s, this journey takes us from the famed King's Cross, with insight of ' Top Shed' witnessing iconic named trains bound for Scotland, through a tapestry of vignettes along the remainder of the line. Many scenes were inspired by Rev Eric Tracy's work & ASV LP records which are available on eBay.

Featuring the superb Caledonia Works A4 Pacifics and A3s in all their glory, this insight continues our Best of British Steam series — a tribute to the golden age of rail travel.
