Welcome to Black Mesa is the second chapter of Opposing Force. Adrian Shephard wakes up in the BMRF, without orders or his peers. He was retrieved by a good samaritan scientist, who suggests he contact his fellow troops with a radio he saw at the crash site.

Gman shows up in this one, twice.

Orbit / The Awakening plays when Adrian exits the Infirmary. Name plays when Adrian finds the Vortigaunt corpse and Listen / Spooky Oozings plays once Adrian crashes into the water. Track 23 from Mishaps in the Reactor Chamber plays when Adrian picks up the PCV.

Half-Life: Opposing Force is an expansion pack for the first-person shooter game Half-Life. It was developed by Gearbox Software and published by Sierra On-Line for Windows on November 19, 1999. Opposing Force was the first expansion for Half-Life and was announced in April 1999. Lead designer Randy Pitchford noted that he believed Gearbox was selected to develop Opposing Force because Valve, the creators of Half-Life, wanted to concentrate on their future projects. Over the course of development, Gearbox brought in a variety of talent from other areas of the video games industry to help bolster various aspects of design. Opposing Force portrays the events of Half-Life from the perspective of a U.S. Marine, one of the enemy characters in the original, assigned to the Hazardous Environment Combat Unit (HECU). The player character, Adrian Shephard, is sent in to neutralize the Black Mesa Research Facility when a scientific mishap causes it to be invaded by aliens, but quickly finds that the Marines are outnumbered and slowly being beaten back by a second alien race and black operations units. Half-Life: Opposing Force, commonly abbreviated as OpFor or Op4, is an acclaimed expansion pack for Half-Life, developed by Gearbox Software and released by Sierra Entertainment on November 19, 1999. In Opposing Force, the player returns to Black Mesa as Corporal Adrian Shephard, one of the soldiers sent in to eliminate the civilians from the original game. On an undisclosed mission to Black Mesa, things don't quite go as planned, and Shephard gets separated from his unit at the beginning of the game. Now alone and without any orders, Shephard must face not only a new alien threat alongside the Xenian invaders, but also the government agents sent in after the soldiers pull out - their mission being to cover up the incident by destroying the facility and eliminate everything and everyone in their way, including the soldiers who were left behind.
