Lisa Wilkinson admitted in cross-examination The Project “excluded things” from the broadcast they felt were “coloured” by Brittany Higgins’ trauma when it came to how she was treated by her boss, then-minister Linda Reynolds, and her chief of staff.
The star journalist also said it was up to others at The Project to determine what questions were finally asked of government ministers and to decide whether to go back to Ms Higgins’ on any inconsistent claims about Senator Reynolds and Fiona Brown.
Ms Wilkinson said, in her second day of evidence, she believed then and now that the Liberal Party would have seen Ms Higgins’ as a “liability” if she went to police.
Bruce Lehrmann is suing Network Ten and presenter Ms Wilkinson over her interview with Ms Higgins on The Project in 2021, detailing accusations that Mr Lehrmann r-ped Ms Higgins on March 23, 2019, but not naming him as the alleged attacker. He has consistently denied r-ping Ms Higgins.
