Fire Emblem's Weird History with Zombies

For some bizarre reason, Fire Emblem loves relying on zombies or zombie-likes as a enemy trope. There is someone at Intelligent Systems of the opinion the medieval setting goes perfectly well with a zombie apocalypse for some reason, even if I can't think of other forms of media that combine the two. So what is going on? Why is Fire Emblem so obsessed with zombies all of a sudden?
