How to Say “The Teacher” in Different Languages 👩🏫🌍
🇩🇪 German:
Der Lehrer (male) / Die Lehrerin (female)
➡️ “Der/Die” are gendered articles (“the”). Used for schoolteachers; Der Professor / Die Professorin for university level.
🇫🇷 French:
Le professeur (neutral) / La professeure (female, less common)
➡️ “Le” for masculine, “la” for feminine. You can also say le prof / la prof informally.
🇪🇸 Spanish:
El profesor (male) / La profesora (female)
➡️ Used for teachers and professors. “El” and “la” are masculine/feminine articles meaning “the.”
🇹🇷 Turkish:
Öğretmen
➡️ Turkish has no gendered articles, so “the teacher” is just öğretmen — context gives meaning. Sometimes you might say öğretmen kişi (the teacher person) for emphasis, but it’s rare.
🇷🇺 Russian:
Учитель (Uchitel’) (male) / Учительница (Uchitelnitsa) (female)
➡️ Russian doesn’t use an article for “the.” So учитель means both “teacher” and “the teacher,” depending on context.
