Hi, I'm Phoebe, an Oxford-based illustrator. Welcome to my new asmr channel! Thank you for stopping by and stick around if you want to see more dino/paleo-themed asmr videos :)
Show notes/corrections:
The Natural History Museum in London was previously a department of the British Museum. The name was formally changed in 1992, though it had been formally separated from the British Museum since 1963.
Regarding scant evidence for Sauropods towards the end times: There are large gaps in the fossil record for sauropods in the Late Cretaceous period of North America. The term ’Sauropod Hiatus’ was coined by Spencer G Lewis and Adrian P Hunt to describe this period of time in the geological calendar. This time period is viewed as an almost extinction-like event, though it was followed by the rapid proliferation of sauropod species through South America. A similar trend was found in the fossil records of Late Cretaceous Europe, though this may be because Titanosaur remains are generally rare. Alamosaurus was definitely the dominant herbivorous force in Late Cretaceous North America post-Sauropod Hiatus
I had to chop a tiny bit of a sentence out due to background noise: ‘of the limbs, for the new kind of movement in the new medium’
I’m definitely going to be revisiting this museum guide and focusing on a different section, please do leave a comment if you saw something specific in the contents page that you want me to read from next time!
