While the most well known Vox amplifier is without doubt the AC30, the UL hybrid amps from the '60s were also serious offerings which were used on many records.
The Taxman British Overdrive aims at capturing their biting overdrives and fuzzy sounds: it's the other Vox in a box!
The Taxman is made by Farmer Factory in Douelle, France.
Recording setup:
The sound from the pedal is recorded through a TC Electronic Wiretap, then directly imported into a DAW, where a capture of my previous Boss GT1 preset is applied through NAM (Neural Amp Modeler). Minor EQ tweaks are also applied to tame frequencies above 6kHz from the NAM model.
