It’s not over until the unprecedented sudden death death-toss is concluded and you won’t believe the winning throw.
At the end of an unprecedentedly hot Saturday, 07th of September 2024, all of this year’s stone skimming finalists competed for the most coveted trophy in all of the stone skimming, the World Cup. Glory would only come to the competitor with the highest combined distance after throwing their three stones up the buoys zone alley. Throwing stones outside of these lines is a ‘no throw’ and less than three skips is also a fault and logged as a zero distant for that throw. Stones that hit the back wall are recorded at 65 meters. Cumulative is the name of the game, so three reasonably long legal throws will most likely win over two back-walls and a ‘no throw’. It was a thrilling end to a memorable weekend of stone skimming in a global warming thermal dome-bomb of a weekend. Fun activities, great food and a relaxed atmosphere rewarded those people adventurous enough to visit the home of world skimming, Easdale Island.
