Day Trip from Madrid: Exploring San Lorenzo de El Escorial 🇪🇸

While living in Madrid, Spain for a month, we took a scenic day trip to San Lorenzo de El Escorial — just about an hour away by train.🚆

This beautiful 16th-century town is home to the impressive Monastery of El Escorial, one of Spain’s most iconic historical sites. We explored the Frailes Garden, wandered through the charming streets, and enjoyed a delicious tapas lunch at Ku4Tro Restaurant in Plaza de la Constitución.

Afterward, we went for a short hike overlooking San Lorenzo, taking in the peaceful views of the surrounding mountains and architecture.

It was a full day of walking, history, and good food — the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of Madrid. If you’re visiting or living in Madrid, San Lorenzo de El Escorial is a must-see day trip destination!🇪🇸
