Goddess Bhadrakali killing the demon of Dharika in a ground fight during the Kaliyoottu festival of Katta kambal Bhagavathy Temple, Thrissur.
Kattakambal Temple is located at Katta kambal village in Thrissur district. The main deity of the temple is Shiva facing east. but the temple is famous for Kattakambal Bhagavathy that means Kaali.
it is believed that this temple is one of the 108 Shiva Temples of Kerala and is installed by Parasurama, dedicated to Shiva
According to the legends, the Katta kambal temple is considered as 2,000 years old. The Temple is famous for its annual pooram in Meda Maasam.(April / May). The major highlight of the pooram is the Kaali - Darika war and Darika Vadham ( killing of the demon Darikasura)
