I'm not expecting big numbers for this video as it's a niche job on what is an old car now. It's basically there to help people out who need it and to showcase my skills that go beyond the usual car vlogger format of borrow a car and talk rubbish about it (I've made enough of those and there will of course be more).

What is Haldex?

In order to provide all wheel drive for transverse engine cars based on the Golf platform, the VW Group deployed a system from Swedish company Haldex that engages the rear wheels when the electronics sense the front are slipping.
The Haldex coupling (clutch) uses a pump to pressurise its oil which then engages the rear wheels.
On Mk4 Golf based cars like the Mk1 Audi TT, this oil has a service interval of 20,000 miles and 40,000 miles for oil and filter.

This video shows you how to replace both and also how to avoid any pitfalls which can cause you to have to start all over again as happened to me.

Having searched Ebay I realised a reputable company called Ravenol were making an alternative to the VWG/Haldex monopoly when it came to supplying the required oil so decided to give it a try. However I didn't bargain on them not perfectly replicating the original Haldex oil tube which is crucial for ensuring the correct amount of oil goes in.
