Teaching HVAC Apprentice How To Clean Furnace

In this video, I’m showing my apprentice how to disassemble and clean a 70% gas furnace from start to finish — disconnecting the gas flex, removing the burner assembly and blower housing, vacuuming out the return chamber, then reassembling everything and testing the system. I didn’t cover every single detail, like adjusting the pilot flame or fine-tuning the burners, but it’s a solid walkthrough of the main process. When working on these furnaces, always check for proper pilot flame size and color, clean burners and pilot generator, smooth blower operation, tight gas and electrical connections, and clear airflow through the heat exchanger and return chamber.
