XR2i Background:
Released in 1989, the Mk3 Fiesta XR2i was an instant hit. It was a vast improvement over the already highly lauded Mk2 thanks to a new taut chassis, fuel injection and a more obvious performance look. The colour coded body-kit was more aggressive than that of its predecessor with built in fog lights and the now iconic blue pin stripe. The updates where not just cosmetic though, the suspension was refined over the standard models and slightly lowered and stiffened to reduce the cars centre of gravity to help combat understeer and body roll. Early Mk3 XR2i Fiestas like this car retained the 1.6 CVH engine, but with added fuel injection – a first in a Fiesta. With 104bhp it was 14hp on the XR2 and more than enough oomph for the period traffic light Grand Prix. Colours available were Diamond White, Radiant Red, Mercury Grey and Black
Exterior:
Evidently having always been garaged the factory Diamond white paintwork is in excellent order throughout with perfect factory shut lines and a deep glossy finish. The factory correct optional extra alloys are unmarked and fitted with brand new premium tyres. This really is a cosseted time warp car


Interior:
The front sports seats still remain firm and the Zolda cloth is in unmarked condition and incredibly it is still taut with none of the sagging or bagginess that blight most examples. The carpets, head lining and door cards are all lovely and clean and free from any damage and even the original parcel shelf is intact. All dials and switchgear are fully functional and the electric windows and central door locking are in perfect working order.
