Discussion Questions for Hebrews 6 and Hebrews 8:

1. Read Hebrews 6:13-15. What does it mean to you that God swore by Himself to fulfill His promise to Abraham? How does this show God’s commitment to us under the new covenant?

2. Read Hebrews 6:16-19. How is God’s unchanging promise an “anchor for the soul” in your life? In what ways can this truth give you security and peace in your relationship with Him?

3. Read Hebrews 6:19-20. How does Jesus, as our “forerunner,” entering the inner sanctuary on our behalf, change your understanding of access to God? What does this mean for your closeness to Jesus?

4. Read Hebrews 8:7-9. What were the limitations of the old covenant, and how have you experienced these limitations in your own attempts to please God through effort? How does the new covenant free you from this?

5. Read Hebrews 8:10-12. God promises to “write His laws on our hearts” under the new covenant. What are these “laws”? How does this internal transformation differ from external rules?

6. Read Hebrews 8:12. God declares, “I will remember their sins no more.” How does this truth of total forgiveness change the way you see your past, yourself, and your relationship with God?
