Who doesn’t love the longstanding legacy of the UW Marching Band?! In this episode of The UW Now Livestream, Wisconsin Alumni Association® executive director Sarah Schutt talks with Mike Leckrone and Corey Pompey, the former and current band directors, respectively. Leckrone shares the secret of a balanced life — working hard while having fun — a tenet he drew from during his 50 years as the UW’s director of bands. Pompey shares the challenges he faced after taking the baton in the 2019–20 academic year, as the pandemic was causing cancellations and other challenges. Following the discussion, both directors field questions from an audience of more than 1,400 fans.
