Scenic drive in Vilnius - Karoliniškės - Lazdynai - Naujamiestis - Naujininkai - Vingis - Žvėrynas

Karoliniškės is a quiet suburb consisting mainly of Soviet-era housing blocks and known for the Vilnius TV Tower. In addition to city views from its observation deck and restaurant, the tower has a museum and memorial dedicated to Lithuanians killed while defending it against Soviet troops during the January Events of 1991. Trails wind through wooded Pasakų Park, which features sculptures of fairy-tale figures.

Lazdynai is an eldership of Vilnius, Lithuania, situated on the right bank of the Neris River. It covers a area of 9.9 square kilometres and has a population of 31,097. The word means "hazel bushes" in Lithuanian.

Naujamiestis, or New Town, is a sprawling district centering on the city’s main shopping street, Gedimino Prospektas, with theaters, eateries, and mainstream stores in ornate buildings. The Museum of Occupations and Freedom Fights, in a former KGB headquarters and prison, remembers Lithuanian victims, while Tauro Kalnas park offers city views. Soviet-era factories are being converted into lofts and cultural spaces.

Naujininkai is one of the elderships of Vilnius, Lithuania. It is situated in the south-west of the city and lies between Vilnius International Airport and the railway station. It has an Old Believers cemetery and a church.

Vingis Park is a huge forested area in a bend of the Neris River, crisscrossed by walking and bike trails. It’s home to part of the Vilnius University Botanical Garden with flower beds and fruit trees, and a small cemetery with the graves of German soldiers. An amphitheater hosts occasional open-air concerts and festivals. Cafes with outdoor terraces serve burgers, salads, and soups, and food carts sell local snacks.

Žvėrynas is an upscale, leafy neighborhood known for its ornate timber houses from the early 1900s, interspersed with sleek contemporary residences. The striking Karaite Kenesa is a place of worship for the minority Karaite community, and Byzantine-style domes top Our Lady of the Sign Orthodox Church. Panorama mall has local and international clothing stores, plus gourmet delicatessens. Global eateries dot the area.
