The Geneva Wilderness Area received 800+ native plants rescued from development- some of them threatened and endemic to Florida🌿 Special thanks to Cali Adams, Chelsea LeNoble, Allegra Buyer, Elizabeth Stephens, Seminole Natural Lands, and Seminole Education, Restoration and Volunteer (SERV) Program for making the planting a highly successful experience.
The area is disturbed, sandy, well-drained soil; deficient of large shrubs and trees. This made the area suitable for the relocation of small forbs and graminoids that specialize and thrive in these conditions.
Select species highlighted in the video:
Asimina reticulata (Netted pawpaw)
Lupinus diffusus (Sky blue lupine)
Piloblephis rigida (Wild pennyroyal)
Crocanthemum nashii (Florida scrub frostweed)
Selaginella arenicola (Sandspike moss)
Sophronanthe hispida (Rough hedgehyssop)
Lechea cernua (Scrub pinweed)
