How we repair rock chips at Cracks N Chips using pro tools, close-up views, and mobile service now!!

My name is Brendt, and I’m the owner of Cracks N Chips Windshield Repair. In this video, I’m walking you through how we repair a rock chip using our professional process from start to finish.

The rock chip shown here is roughly dime-sized or slightly smaller. I begin the repair by drilling into the impact point, which helps relieve stress in the glass and prepares the break for proper resin flow. After drilling, I lightly tap the break to help open it just enough so the resin can move through the damaged area smoothly.

Once the break is prepared, I use the injector tool to run several vacuum and pressure cycles. This part of the process removes any trapped air and ensures the resin fully fills the chip. During this repair, the camera is positioned just a couple of inches from the tool, giving you a clear, close-up look at exactly how the repair is performed.

After the chip is completely filled, I perform a final pressure cycle and then cure the resin with a UV light. If you’re doing a repair on your own and don’t have a UV lamp, a small UV flashlight works well. You can also allow the windshield to cure naturally in sunlight. Even on overcast days, the resin will still cure—just allow 15 to 20 minutes if it’s cloudy.

Once curing is complete, I remove the tool, clean the surface, apply a small amount of finishing resin, and place a curing tab or plastic film over the area. After curing, I scrape the surface smooth, just like you see in the video, to restore clarity and a clean finish.
