Learn BeforeUpdate and AfterUpdate in Microsoft Access with Appointment Conflict Check Example

Is there an easy way to check if I already have something scheduled at that time so I don't double-book? Also, after I enter the appointment, can Access prompt me to send a confirmation email? I keep forgetting to do that, and it would really help if the system reminded me automatically.
