An industrial lubricating oil consists of the base oil (mineral or synthetic) and several additives. This video explains why do we need additives in the oil and what are those additives. What are their functions in enhancing the performance of the oil? Is oil change really good for your car?
Do you know that a lubricating oil will be nearly of no use if there were no additives? Several examples of each additive type is presented. The money we for lubricants are mostly because of the well-formulated additives which are all synthetic. Of course if the base oil is also synthetic then the cost goes very high.
