Here are a few easy homemade snacks that I make for my family. They are healthy, filling, and clean. I have moved away from buying so many snacks from the store because they are overpriced with too many ingredients.
What are your favorite homemade snacks?
Recipes:
Chewy Banana Oatmeal Cookies (found on Facebook - slightly modified)
Ingredients:
2 ripe bananas, mashed
2 cups rolled oats
1/4 cup peanut butter (or almond butter)
1/4 cup maple syrup (or honey)
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup dark chocolate chips (optional)
1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Combine the mashed bananas, peanut butter, maple syrup, cinnamon, and vanilla extract in a large mixing bowl.
Mix well until smooth.
Add the rolled oats to the wet ingredients and stir until thoroughly combined. If using, fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts.
Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
Flatten slightly with the back of a spoon or your fingers.
Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the cookies are golden around the edges and firm to the touch.
Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for longer freshness.
