UAV Strategist Sam Denniff takes you through the differences between a DJI Mavic Pro and the DJI Matrice 210. If you are thinking about upgrading your Mavic Pro or Phantom or looking to add a more commercial drone to your fleet such as the Matrice 210 then this video is for you.
The Mavic Pro and Phantom drones are small yet powerful drones from DJI and are ideal options for start-up commercial operations or hobbyists alike. But once you have your commercial drone business off the ground it's time to start looking at upgrading your fleet in order to stand out from your competition, offer more specialist services and fly all year round.
Why would look up upgrade your drone from a Mavic Pro to a Matrice 210?
Weatherproofing - The Matrice 210 has an IP rating of 43 and can fly in adverse weather conditions (medium rain and strong winds) whereas the Mavic Pro has no IP rating and should avoiding being flown in harsh conditions. Especially in the UK an IP rating of 43 means you can fly the Matrice 210 all year-round and for longer periods in the colder months. The Mavic Pro has no IP rating, this means during adverse weather conditions limited flight time and downtime potentially losing out on work.
Dual Camera Capabilities - The Matrice 210 can mount dual cameras such as an XT2 and the Z30. Compared to the Mavic Pro or a Phantom you only have one built-in camera which can't be swapped out or upgraded at any point.
Removable Payloads - With the Mavic and Phantom drones the camera is in-built so you cannot upgrade your camera. With Matrice 210 has removable payload which means you can upgrade your camera as your customers or the market demands. For example, if you started to look at 3D Mapping, LiDAR or specialist Thermal camera's you would need a drone with removable payloads. You can expand your business from simple photography based inspection to high-end inspection based work for the inspection industry, search and rescue, police and fire services.
Operating System - The operating system for the Matrice 210 is much more specialist than the Mavic and Phantom handheld controllers with smartphones. You will be using the Matrice controller with the CrystalSky screen which hugely increases the useability of applications based on the control system.
Dual Battery Systems - Self heating dual battery system allows you to fly the drone for longer and in adverse weather conditions. It also gives a higher level of redundancy to the power supply.
Dual IMU - This makes the Matrice fly smoother and won't twitch during flight as you may see with the Mavic or Phantom.
Wheeled Case - For ease of transport

Extras - With the Matrice 210 you also have the FPV Camera and beacons and other safety measures. The Matrice 210 also lends itself to a dual operating system which is not possible flying a drone such as the Mavic or Phantom. So if you're drone team is expanding or you're looking to train pilots flying a larger system then the Matrice 210 gives you that dual operating system capability.
