This was a solo overnight backpacking trip I did in Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada during an absolutely epic thunderstorm. I had already been out in Alberta for a few days prior to this filming another project, and it was pouring rain almost the entire time. I didn't feel like going home just yet, so I extended my trip an extra day so that I could do SOME backpacking in the Canadian Rockies while I was there. The thunder was bouncing off the dramatic cliffs of Banff which only enhanced the sound. This trip was done on the Mosquito Creek trail as part of the Molar Loop, off the Icefields Parkway. Originally, I planned to hike up to Molar Pass, but a big storm moved in during the evening and prevented me from doing so. Eventually, I hope to return to Banff and/or Jasper National Park to do a much longer trip. Being out in the wild during a thunderstorm and camping in the rain is an awesome experience, as long as you have somewhere safe to shelter.
Another cool thing about this trip was that I ran into a few hikers from Joey Coconato's crew, of My Own Frontier. I watch Joeys videos religiously, so meeting a few of the guys who have joined him on some of his trips was really cool for me. Those guys are legit!
