Welcome to Wildwestfaces, In this episode we look at a particular Bow, Arrows, bow cover and quiver of a Sioux warrior made before 1848, as it was this year that army surgeon Nathan Sturges Jarvis acquired it at Fort Snelling in Minnesota. Jarvis was a keen collector of native American artifacts and he obtained them when ever he could, many items from his collection now reside in museums across America.
We take a look at the materials of the bow and we take a quick look at stroud cloth, the woolen cloth traded for centuries with the Native Americans.
We also look at metal arrowheads, the metal arrowheads have been the only improvement on the design of the bow and arrow in thousands of years.
