We check back in on how the installation of the Optimus system going onboard this Axopar 28. Its all about the planning and adapting in this episode. Check it out and let us know what you think? Thinking of adding an Optimus Joystick to your boat? Drop us a line lets talk.
Hey, guys. What's going on? It is time for another Optimus steering update. We are back on board the Axopar 28 Brabus edition here for East Coast yacht Sales, and we are doing the Optimus install. Now, as you may recall, the last update. We've got everything taken out of that front locker up there and we were talking about doing the pumps and doing everything up there. Well, best laid plans. We look at things and we decided to improve upon the original design here. So we're not doing it up there, but we're actually doing it back here. So let's go ahead. We're going to hop into the salon helm area here and show you guys what we have done for the install to date and made things a little bit better. I think. So. As we go ahead, we walk in here, you can see we still have everything open up back here. But as we take a look down in here, you'll see we have the dual Optimus steering pumps all set up. We've got the wiring rod. We've got our proper ABC Circuit protection right there and our network connections. Everything's right there. And it made for a really nice short wire run to the batteries from that spot. So it just made everything made sense. You know, we can run a smaller gauge wire now because we don't have as far of a wire run. We can cut down on our hydraulic hose run lengths because the motors are right in the back back there. So just all the way around, we kind of hit pause. We said, wait a minute, is there a better way to do this? And the team pulled together and said, yes, there is. And that's what we came up with. So we've got the new steering cylinders. Those are going to be getting installed back there on those mercs here shortly. So those are taken care of. And while that was going on, we're waiting to get that taken care of. Rather, if we take a look over here, you're going to see we have our color display. That's the Optimus display to give us our engine data and kind of let us know what's going. As you remember from the last video, if you guys saw it, we've got a joystick installed over here originally, if you'll recall, there was a heating vent right there. So that has been taken out and kind of pan over here and look. You can see we actually have our heating vent now on the side of our helm. So it's still very functional, still very usable where you can use it as a defrost or we can use it to blow a little heat back on us on the shoulder boating season up here in New England. So it's all coming together. The joystick actually, I think is going to fall at hand. Really nice from the throttles to there very easily. So all coming together, guys, we're going to have another update on the final installment as we do the initial dialing it in and then we're going to get it out in the water and we will show you the video process of what it takes to actually get this calibrated and dialed. It's not as simple as just putting the parts in and set it on the way. They should have to get out on the water and dial us in said that's the key to this install. So if you're looking to have one of these installs done, maybe you're not in our area and you're looking to get in. So make sure that they're going to go out and dial it in for your boat. There are some baseline files they can put in, but to really set this up for success, you want to make sure you're both dialed in properly with your motors and all that good stuff. So yeah, that's it. That's what we've got going on today for the Optimus install on this Axopar 28. As always, be sure to give us a follow on YouTube, Instagram and Facebook at Navtronics. And thank you guys for tuning in. We'll have an update here real soon. Peace.
