Today we are here today to discuss the differences between two of our turf varieties, Sir Walter DNA Certified and Sir Grange Zoysia. Before we compare them, lets go through them.
Sir Grange Zoysia is the cream of the crop. It has been hand-selected from over 10,000 different varieties of Zoysia Grass. It has low maintenance, with a dark green colour and is shade tolerant. With a soft fine leaf, it requires 50% less mowing than other varieties and 75% less fertiliser. With a luxurious finish, it truly is a premium turf grass variety.
Sir Walter DNA Certified was first introduced in 1997 and has become a household name in sturdy lawns. Perfect for growing in sun and shade. It has a lush, mild green colour and soft broadleaf. Sir Walter has proven to be the best performing lawn in harsh Australian conditions.
Sir Grange Zoysia Vs. Sir Walter DNA Certified.
Fertiliser:
Although you can fertilise all turf varieties at the start of every season. Sir Grange takes the win here as it requires 75% less fertiliser. This means it can remain healthier all year round with less inputs.
Wear & recovery:
It is important to pick the right turfgrass to match the wear and traffic conditions of your lawn. If heavy traffic is a concern, then Sir Walter takes the win here. While Sir Grange does have high wear tolerance and will recover from wear, it’s slow-growing means that it will recover slower than Sir Walter.
Mowing:
If you are not a regular mower and like myself find mowing painful. Sir Grange definitely takes the win here. Sir Grange requires 50% less mowing and can even be left longer giving a unique lawn effect. It can require as little as an annual trim.
Shade:
Shade can make or break the health of your lawn. Both varieties take the win here, as they are both shade tolerant and require as little as 2-3 hours of direct sunlight daily.
So the verdict is…it depends. The best grass by far is Sir Grange Zoysia with its gorgeous fine leaf finish that also provides high shade tolerance, low inputs and lower maintenance. It really is the best lawn we have seen on the market.
However, if you have a tighter budget and an active family that requires a tough shade tolerant lawn then Sir Walter DNA Certified is a great option.
We hope that this video has given you a good overview of Sir Grange Zoysia and Sir Walter DNA Certified.
