Essential to Channels is Kassian’s focus on time’s ability to reorient human perspective. Kassian worked on the album over an extended period, with instrumentation, field recordings, and percussion first constructed and then subsequently stripped away and refined.
This refinement lead to extensive collaborations with Ezra Collective member Joe Armon-Jones, and, after a chance meeting, cellist Timothy Kraemer. These additions added an improvised layer to the already painstaking process of the album.
The result is an earthy thing, flowing with depth and meaning, it's near impossible to grasp with only one listen.
