Incredible run on Dartmoor. Parked up, I had no idea where I would run or how far, just took my trusty map, camera and the beautiful sunshine. Parked at Bennett’s cross near the Warren House Inn and crossed the boggy moorland at Bush Down to Hurston Ridge Stone Row, and what a cracking stone row that is. Followed the Two Moors Way through Chagford Common and checked the map for the first time.
Decided to continue along the Two Moors Way to Teignworthy and take a left up to the hut circles at French Beer Rock. Next it was up to find the rock basin on Middle Tor and a little further to the Stone row and Three Boys Standing Stone.
I decided to run around Fernworthy Forrest to a settlement until eventually arriving at one of my top five Dartmoor spots, The Grey Wethers Stone Circles. I love this place and spent some time here enjoying lunch.
It was now time for a nice long chilled downhill, passing more hut circles before arriving at Postbridge. For once, Postbridge was really quiet and a chance to take some great photos of the clapper bridge without strangers being in the photos.
A short road section, before turning right up to Soussons Down Forrest. Felt good to run sheltered from the sun for a while. Leaving the Forrest, the final couple of miles passed the Golden Dagger Tin Mines before arriving back to the car. Finished off todays adventure with almost 16 miles. A pint of Guinness was thoroughly enjoyed sat outside The Warren House Inn, enjoying the incredible views of dartmoor.
