Heath Type SH~U From Atascadero, CA | Last Of It's Kind - Old Siren Saved

Here’s something awesome to share with everyone! This is a Heath SHU (Type 33) that I just acquired. I don’t know much about this model—Heath made a lot of obscure sirens, and this is definitely one of them. It’s fully functional and runs very well, especially considering it’s about 100 years old and spent 90 of those years on top of a fire station. It’s single phase, wired for 220V. But I’ve only tried to growl it on 110 so far. (It’s capable of being wired for 110 operation but it’s cloth wire id have to mess with and i won’t disturb that unless i take it to a motor shop)

It originally came from Atascadero, CA, where it was first installed at the old fire station and later moved to the new one. Eventually, it was removed and sent for scrap, passed through several owners, and now it’s with me.

Hopefully some more research can be done about these and get more examples of them! So far this Is the only documented Type SHU, and more about Heath sirens in general.
