What is the 45545-2 Fire Safety requirements?
EN 45545-2 specifies the reaction to fire performance requirements for materials and products used on railway vehicles as defined in EN 45545-1.
The operation and design categories defined in EN 45545-1 are used to establish hazard levels that are used as the basis of a classification system.
There are three hazard levels; HL1, HL2 and HL3 with HL1 being the lowest requirement and HL3 being the highest.
The classification depends on how many kilometres the trolley is in tunnels and whether it is automatic, two-storey or if sleepers are on board.
