The Sodder Family Fire Mystery

This is the bizarre case of the bizarre Sodder family fire that reduced their family from ten children to five children. What really happened? How did the fire start? Was it arson? Did five of the children perish in the fire although no remains were found? Or were the children kidnapped and then the fire started as a cover up? Did the father's rants about Mussolini (he and his wife are Italian immigrants and running a trucking company associated with the coal industry) cause the Sicilian mafia to target him? Or were the fire and possible kidnapping revenge by a local person or was an insurance issue involved (not something the Sodders would have collected)? The parents, George and Jennie, believed their missing children were kidnapped to the day they died, offering a large reward and they continued to have hope to see them again until they both passed away.

The Sodder family fire is stated to have occurred in West Virginia on December 24 approximately 1 AM (although I am not sure they don't mean December 25 at that point, but they keep stating it was Christmas Eve. All the info on this case is very sketchy and contradictory.
