Brenda Jepchirchir, 21, delivered the most commanding performance of the day in her first major 10 km. She attacked from the first kilometre but admitted the team affected her rhythm. “The course was tough, and I was ready to run 29 minutes, but somehow the team slowed the pace,” she said in a virtual post-race interview.
Despite the slower-than-intended tempo, Jepchirchir maintained her front-running style, crossing in 30:04 and leaving seasoned European runners, including Maureen Koster and Sarah Lahti, to contest the remaining podium positions. Her fearless racing reflected the hallmark of Keringet training: disciplined endurance, aggressive tactics, and mental resilience built on rugged high-altitude forest trails.
