Skandagiri, also known as Kalavara Durga, is a hill fortress located near the town of Chikballapur in Karnataka, India. It is a popular trekking destination and is known for its beautiful sunrise views.

The trek to Skandagiri hilltop is a moderate-level trek and 70kms from Bangalore, usually takes around 4-5 hours to complete. The trek starts early in the morning, First slot at 4 AM and second slot at 8 AM, to reach the hilltop before sunrise. The trail passes through dense forests and rocky terrain, and trekkers need to be careful while ascending and descending the steep slopes. Early morning also night trekking to Skandagiri is super Trilling. This is one of the best trekking places around Bangalore.

The most challenging part of the trek is the last stretch, which involves a steep climb on a rocky terrain to reach the hilltop. But the breathtaking views of the sunrise from the top make it all worth it.
It is advisable to carry enough water and snacks for the trek, wear comfortable trekking shoes, and carry a torch or headlamp as the trail can be dark and slippery in some places.
