My family camping at Assateague Island National Seashore began over 20 years before I was born. The earliest (dated) pictures I could find are dated 1969.
It began with my Aunt Helen (Helen Stout) and her boys, Tommy & Philip. Then my grandmother, Sandy (Sondra Eaton) joined in the annual summer camping trip with her two children, Susie (Susan Heck, my Mom) and Billy (William Eaton II). Friends joined in, and years passed, and the children became adults.
My older sister Valerie (Valerie Heck Esmont) and I (Kelly Heck) camped every year of our childhood at Assateague, with Aunt Helen's granddaughter, Adrienne (Adrienne Weinstein).
This mini documentary highlights just a few of our most cherished memories (and some unexpected funny comments). Interviewed are Helen Stout, Susan Heck, and myself, Kelly Heck.
As of today (May 15, 2020), all family members mentioned are still with us, enjoying and laughing as we recall the good times at Assateague Island National Seashore.
