Chefchaouen into the high Atlas // Morocco Overlanding I

Morocco out of the ordinary, we started our trip in Chefchaouen went through Fes into the high Atlas.

For years I was waiting to set foot or tire on to the African continent, and we finally made it.
We drove to Morocco and spend about three weeks in the country. The adventure started at the Moroccan border as my drone got confiscated. I was, as always, perfectly informed about the rules and laws at our destination (not). During the first week, we drove from Ceuta through Chefchaouen and Fes into the High Atlas.
I’ve to say it was a smooth introduction to the African continent, the Morocco north has a strong European influence. But as soon as you hit the souks and markets in the city’s you dive into another world, we got lost in the narrow streets with all the shops, selling all kinds of goods. From there we drove through rich farmland towards the high atlas stumbling over a forest full of monkeys, climbing higher and higher into windy and dry grasslands until snow covert mountains appear in the distance. It was a remarkable drive. Here we met Daniels, Nadja, Alicia, Manu and Ilja with their Defenders and made our way into the mountains. Passing these villages felt like time travel…
