I’ve just arrived in Da Lat, Vietnam — and I’m already freezing (which is a nice change). This city sits 1,500 metres above sea level, and after months of sweating, I’m loving the cool air, even if the roads are chaotic as hell.
In this first impressions vlog, I take you from a 5-hour sleeper bus ride straight into the buzzing streets of Da Lat. I check into a cheap hostel, nearly get flattened crossing the road, wander to the reservoir, and start getting a feel for this popular Vietnamese mountain city.
From its French-colonial roots to its reputation as a Vietnamese honeymoon spot, Da Lat is full of surprises — and that’s before I even hire a scooter to explore properly.
You’ll see real street life, messy traffic, quiet riversides, fitness freaks jogging by the lake, and a totally non-party hostel with rooftop views.
Tomorrow I’ll be out on the road, but for now, this is your rough, honest, and off-the-cuff look at one of Vietnam’s most unexpected cities.
