Lymphedema is an accumulation of lymphatic fluid causing swelling, usually in one or both arms or legs. The condition develops when the lymphatic system is impaired due to disease, infection or trauma to the lymph nodes, including surgical removal or radiation treatment for cancer.
This video is brief review of self-manual lymphatic drainage. There are many variations of this technique, which should only be performed as directed by your certified lymphedema therapist. This is an abbreviated video and if you are following along, please pause the video and perform the technique slowly, as directed by your therapist.
