"BRUSHED MOTORS ARE SLOW, RIGHT??"... Tamiya TT-01E 2s Vs Brushless HPI Blitz 3s

"Brushed motors are slow"; a phrase very often uttered... but not all brushed motors are limp-wristed silver cans that couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding!

This brushed Tamiya TT-01 Type E, running a 2s lipo and a brushed motor takes on a brushless HPI Blitz running 3s... yes, 50% more voltage as well as brushless power!! The Tamiya shouldn't stand a chance...

You probably noticed, the wee Tamiya handles pretty good, but it's twitchy as hell! That's partially due to the power, partially to do with the tyres struggling for traction (very cold November day, doesn't help), but mostly to do with the fact that apart from a slightly raised body shell height the car is running the exact setup I used to run, while racing, indoors, on wooden floor. Literally, just lifted the body, to get over bumps and stones, but it is still very much configured for extremely rapid changes of direction, with a very "pointy" front end and loose rear. Also, it was set-up while running a 27 turn motor. So... yeah, she's a handful!
