Having been fighting off an ear infection this past week, my regular practise routine took a hit (I was hearing everything down a semitone in one ear for a while - yuk!), however this weekend I tried something new and learnt the opening Prelude to Bach’s 2nd Cello Suite, BWV 1008 in D minor.
I love the mysterious and dark sounding space in between the notes, and almost entirely a single voice throughout, it forced me to focus on connecting the notes into purposeful phrases, creating a strong sense of harmonic movement with minimal bass notes.
