EP 6 - RAISING THE TRUSSES

Back in September, the weather was shifting, the air getting cooler, and fall slowly settling in. It was the month we finally started lifting the trusses — a stage that made the whole shop feel like it was growing upward.

We rented a tele-handler to help with the lift, and Braeden’s dad came out to guide each truss into place. It was one of those days where everything looked simple from far away, but each small step took patience, measuring, and constant adjusting.

We also finished the brackets on the trusses, moved sheathing up to the roofline, and built a small jig to hold each sheet flat as we prepared for roofing. Most of what we learned came from YouTube — one tutorial after another until things started to make sense in real life.

Looking back, this phase felt fast and slow at the same time.
Fast, because each truss made the shop feel taller and more real.
Slow, because building a homestead always brings that quiet reminder: there’s still so much more ahead.

But maybe that’s the point — taking each day as it comes, learning with your hands, appreciating every new skill, and slowly watching your future take shape.
