Andy Miah is Chair of Ethics and Emerging Technologies and Director of the Creative Futures Institute at the University of the West of Scotland. He holds degrees in Science, Bioethics and Law, and has expertise in fields as diverse as sociology, cultural studies, the history of medicine, the philosophy of technology and media theory, stemming from an intense interest in the implications of technology and science for humanity. His recent work consider pervasive wireless connectivity, converging technological systems, the modification of living matter through nanotechnology and gene transfers, and the role of art and design in biotechnology - bioart or transgenic art.
