I welcome you to come with me into the Boreal country of Alaska. This is the habitat of the fox and ptarmigan. It is deep in the Alaska Range, about 100 miles east of Denali. I hiked from above timberline, down to the forest below, where I could escape the wind and find a good supply of firewood. Snow fell with the night and I awoke to a fresh layer of powder. There will not be many more weekends of winter left in these mountains. Spring is eminent.
