In our last episode, we brought you highlights of the 2022 National Train Show in Collinsville, Illinois. We met a lot of new friends, got inspired by layouts on display, and purchased some new products for my HO scale M-K-T Sedalia Subdivision layout.

Since the show, we have been at work adding to the layout. Until recently, my layout consisted of a 20 ft by 2-foot shelf layout constructed along one wall of my garage “train room.” I feature this original section in this previous show:

In recent days I have completed an expansion that adds 6 ft by 6 ft of space. This new section will allow me to model the south side of Sedalia, Missouri, and include industries such as Rival Manufacturing, the M.F.A grain elevator, and Fischers Concrete. These companies will provide plenty of traffic for my railroad. The Rival plant will be serviced with boxcars, whereas the elevator and concrete plant will be served by a variety of hopper cars.

My next project will be to construct the Rival building. For this, I will be using a Rix Products “Milton A. Corporation” kit. This package includes a collection of wall and roof sizes found in the company’s other kits. You can find more information about the M.A.C. structure on Rix’s website.

In addition to giving a layout update, I give a quick review of a new Rock Island PS2-4427 cover from Tangent Scale Models. I have several Tangent hopper cars in my rolling stock roster. Be sure to watch my video comparing Tangent and Intermountain hoppers:
