The Central Band of the Hungarian Defence Force - 23rd October National Day Budapest Kossuth Square

The Hungarian Defence Forces Central Band, Magyar Honvédség Központi Zenekar supporting the events on Kossuth Square, behind the National Parliament Building in Budapest on October 23rd, Hungary's National Memorial Day commemorating the events of the 1956 Revolution. The daily 9AM flag raising on the square is complemented by a presidential review of troops and full military band starting just before 9AM and lasting for around half an hour.

Aside from the famous Berlioz 'Hungarian March' which is played frequently by the band throughout the parade I am unaware of any of the other marches played, please do comment if you can help!

I have included footage from the troops dispersing onto the streets of Budapest into the video as well as video taken at the 8am rehearsal on the square that I stumbled across when getting the the location early.

For the UK audeince, The Central Band of the Hungarian Defence Forces will be travelling to the UK in February 2025 to perform at the Birmingham International Tattoo alongside the Bands of HM Royal Marines and The French Foreign Legion. Please check out their website for further details.

The Changing of the Guard in Budapest, held at Buda Castle Presidential Palace features a short drill display accompanied by one drummer and lasts around five minutes and does not feature a full military band apart from selected Sunday's during the summer months. I will produce a separate video showing this small ceremony.
