The GM Delco Remy alternator, with internal voltage regulator, is a relatively indestructible and easy to understand unit. Premiering mainly on GM's cars and trucks from the mid 1970s through the latter 1980s, this alternator type is typical of what can be found on most older GM vehicles along with a multitude of industrial applications produced by various manufacturers, some of which are still being built to this day. Voltage output on these alternators can be determined simply by which stator is installed. Safety goggles a MUST and always use EXTREME CAUTION around moving parts!!!
