Day in the Life of A GREEN WITCH || Potions and Medicines From My Craft

Welcome wild ones! Come and breath into another great week, this one basking in the glory of the sun and so much medicine crafting with flowers, roots and leaves. Let me share with you a day in the life of a green witch. The Spring is shifting and making room for Summer. In my witchy life I am overwhelmed and exhilarated for as new growth begins so do I. I love that song by Joni Michell the Circle Game. It is my theme for this Summer.

This week has been full of flower magick, green witch herbalism and today I share with you potions and medicine from my craft. This is truly a perfect example of a day in the life of a green witch, although this all happened throughout the week. Each witch is unique and I mix green witchery, kitchen witchery, herbalism and something I call spontaneous magick. I want to share more about this through out this year wild ones. The Spring is just wanning and the Summer is arrived. I love my witchy life, and I have really come into my own. It has been a year of reawakening and I owe all of that to youtubing. It has allowed me to re-find myself and to peel away the many layers and masks I had to wear to make in this world for my children and my future but happily a shift happened and I jumped. The net appeared wild ones. Thanks for joining me and encouraging me as I explore myself and then share how a green witch lives. I identify as a non- denominational green hedge witch with a strong interest in herbalism and wild forest medicine. That's where the name comes in for I am the wild woodland witch.

I use Brandy at the moment to make my medicines but it is often recommended to use Vodka. I also use Vodka. 80-100 proof

Oxymel: (no alcohol taste great self like 6 months) It is a vinegar mixed with a honey to extract medicine. I use 50% apple cider vinegar and 50% raw wild honey. The trick is to fill the jar of your liking and then pour over the mixture. You don't want much air in the top so do choose your jar based on how much medicine you wish for. Roots are generally not the best for Oxymel's but they work just fine in an alcohol like the one I made. I like to make medicine fresh but you can also use dried herbs. I would choose a tea with dried roots over a tincture if given the choose and use fresh if possible for a tincture.

Infusing Oils: (shelf life a year or more)They say that Avocado is really the best overall oil because whatever you make that will go on the skin will be the least damaging in the sun. I use this as a rule of thumb for anything that will go on the face, but for body oil for massage or healing salves typically this can be any oil I like. For example I love sunflower for my skin. I prefer it. It is very gentle. I use Olive oil a good amount and it is very affordable and stable.

Tinctures: (self life 2 years or indefinite) My tinctures and all the medicine I made in the video need to be moved every few days. I turn honey's and oxymel's every day. Infusing honey is the only one I am very careful about because of bacteria. I infuse for 4 weeks. Tinctures in alcohol I infuse for 6-7 weeks. Oxymel's are 2-4 weeks. I am looking for bacteria for sure or signs of to far when I open and strain out the herbs- mainly for Oxymel's and Honey. Anything with alcohol your always good and this is why it is used often. It is very stable.

Earth Magic Spell: In Caldron I add all the plants around me I feel called to and then I add water. This often sits in the sun. I infuse my intentions through meditation and then I feed back to earth that is dry, needs growth or the garden. In this way I am birthing my intentions and aiding the plants. I compost the mixture. I have also made this with all eatable plants so.I can sip some sun tea! I then eat the plants. Also a way to bring on the magick.
